Why choose a linen duvet cover?
Linen is one of the oldest and most sustainable textiles in the world and a great choice to support a restful, comfortable sleep. It is breathable and moisture-wicking, which helps to regulate body temperature while you’re sleeping. Linen is a natural fibre, which means it's hypoallergenic and gentle on the skin - a win for all of us.
Why choose an Alfie linen duvet cover?
Not all linen is created equal and there are vastly different levels of quality being offered out there. Our journey to partner with the right manufacturer led us to Portugal where we found a family-owned textile factory that has been in operation for over 100 years. All Alfie linen is 100% European flax from Belgium and France. Our duvet covers are 160gsm linen and pre-washed for softness. When we say our duvet covers are soft from the very beginning, we mean it. Luxuriously soft. So soft you won’t want to get out of bed.
Are Alfie duvet covers ethically made?
Yes, they are. Our flax is purchased from certified producers who, along with our manufacturer, hold the SMETA Standards (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) certification, which is a social audit reviewing labour practices, health and safety, environment and business ethics. They are also OEKO TEX certified, which means every component (thread, zips, buttons, fabric etc) is tested and certified free from substances harmful to human health. Our manufacturer has a strong commitment to sustainability, investing in a cogeneration power system, solar panels for clean energy and machinery that significantly reduces water and gas consumption.
What colours do Alfie duvet covers come in?
Our duvet covers come in our custom colour, Lichen and signature print, Tidal Lines. Think of Lichen as your new neutral. It pairs beautifully with so many different colours and patterns, both light and dark, and of course it’s a wonderful match with our very own Tidal Lines and Tidal Pool. Our Tidal Lines duvet cover is a stunning piece for the bedroom, dynamic yet refined - it’s a vibe and we love it.
Mixing versus matching bed linen - thoughts?!
Here at Alfie we can go in for either, but if we had to choose one, we’d definitely go with mixing your linens! While we love a minimalist bed, ultimately we’re here for mixing it up and creating something special with different prints and colours. Are Alfie duvet covers easy care?
Yes! Our duvet covers are machine washable and you can put them in the dryer on low! Whilst we love a bit of fresh air and line drying action for our duvet covers, it’s really great to know they can be popped in the dryer if that’s your preference (or if you’re staring down the barrel of a week-long rain forecast). If you are line drying, remember not to leave them out for an extended period in direct sunlight. View our care guide for more detail.
